ArmchairEdClockHours is an approved provider with the Washington State OSPI.
ArmchairEdClockHours posts certificates of completion to orders once coursework is scored.
You need to complete the inservice form and submit with your coursework. Use the ‘fillable form’ on our website. We then send a signed inservice form to Washington educators via email. Keep this form for your records. Allow four weeks from course submission for your coursework to be scored. Please plan accordingly.
All courses are taken as pass/fail. Since there is no in-class or online participation, you must complete all required coursework, per the rubric.
ArmchairEd clock hours are approved within the state of Washington. Check with your credentialing agency to verify approval within your state.
Unfortunately, the Washington OSPI requirements for equity and diversity must be through a university or ESD. ArmchairEdClockHours has great equity and diversity courses, but they cannot meet the Washington requirements. See the institutional requirements here.
We email signed inservice forms weekly, so we don’t provide expedited processing. To verify whether your coursework has been scored, log in and see ‘purchases’; we post the date and completion once a week also. If you have a specific due date, you’ll need to plan ahead.
You will receive an email confirming your purchase, and you should keep it for tax purposes. You can also print a copy of the purchase information by logging onto your account and clicking on ‘purchases’, and then on the order.
Professional development differs in each state. We are an approved clock hour provider in Washington state. Other states allow professional development/inservice non-credit professional development, but have different procedures. Some districts or Educational Service Districts must approve the professional development either before or after you have taken the course. We suggest you check with your district or other credentialing agency to confirm what your state requires.
Students may submit coursework via USPS mail or fax (360-756-8936), or via the website (see “Submitting Coursework” in the main menu). We will not accept mail that requires a signature. If you want mail confirmation, send it Flat Rate Priority, Delivery Confirmation. DO NOT request a signature.
Each test contains multiple choice questions and essay options. Ten clock hour Educational Leadership courses include 10 multiple choice questions and one essay. Thirty clock hour book courses include 30 multiple choice questions and two essays. Fifty clock hour book courses include 50 multiple choice questions and three essays. Sixty clock hour book courses include 50 multiple choice questions from the two texts, with four essays. Page requirement means full pages, or revisions will be requested. We do not count citations as part of the page requirement. Click Here to view a sample test.
We email signed inservice forms weekl. Retain this form for your records, and to submit to your credentialing agency. By Washington state law, we have to retain the inservice form for seven years. To verify whether your coursework has bee scored, log in and click on ‘purchases’.
Payment may be made by check or major credit card, however, you will only be able to download the test once payment is received. Personal checks must be made out to ArmchairEd. There will be a $25 charge for credit card refunds if you wish to drop courses.
The goal of ArmchairEdClockHours is to make professional development a learning experience you can use as an educator. You will need to pass with a criterion of 70% or above. If you score below the criterion or receive below 70% criterion, you will have an opportunity to correct your answers, with both scores being averaged. The rubric is included on each test. Follow the rubric! Tests that are double-spaced, do not meet page limits or do not answer the essay questions will be returned for revisions. Because ArmchairEdClockHours offers no in-class participation, all coursework must be submitted.
Please be sure to register PRIOR to completing any coursework. Registering for a course after coursework has been started violates OSPI standards and puts the ArmchairEdClockHours at risk; therefore, we reserve the right to not award clock hours if students are found to be in violation of this policy.
We post proof of completion on orders once coursework is scored; to view your pass/fail completion, log into your account, and click on ‘purchases’.
To print a certificate of completion, click on ‘print’. We will email a signed inservice form to Washington educators for your records.
